Meeting of the project management team at Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova: September, 29 – 1 October, 2021

Between September, 29 and October 1, 2021, the management team of the project ”Enhancement of Căpriana Monastery for the Promotion of the Unique Ecclesiastic Heritage by Cross-border Cooperation and Digitization”, 2SOFT/2.1.76 (EnCaMo) from CMNM Iași, Romania travelled to Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova. The meeting of the two project teams (LB and B1) aimed to assess the stage of the project implementation, as well as to assess the microclimate parameters inside the newly founded Museum of Căpriana Monastery.

Also, the travel targeted the dissemination of project information on the actions carried out within the project and the free distribution of the publication edited in it, the Good Practice Guidebook on the Conservation and Valorization of Heritage Objects (Ghid de bune practici privind conservarea și valorificarea obiectelor de patrimoniu) to representatives of religious establishments and museums in the Republic of Moldova, through visits to the Diocese of Ungheni and Nisporeni, Moldova’s National History Museum and the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History of Chișinău.

Meeting with travel agencies, 5 – 7 May 2021

Between 5 – 7 May 2021, several activities took place at the Monastic Complex of Căpriana, Republic of Moldova,  within the cross-border project Enhancement of Căpriana Monastery for the Promotion of the Unique Ecclesiastic Heritage by Cross-border Cooperation and Digitization”, 2SOFT/2.1.76 (EnCaMo).

Within these activities, there was the project launch conference at Căpriana Monastery, on the 5th of May 2021 and the opening of ”St. Hierarch Gavriil” Museum of Căpriana Monastery, on the 6th of May 2021.

The meeting with the tourism agencies, on the 7th of May 2021, moderated by Archimandrite FILARET (Cuzmin), Abbot of Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova, project manager for Căpriana Monastery and by PhD Maria Geba, ”Moldova” National Museum Complex, manager of EnCaMo project, was attended by the members of the two project teams and by representatives of tourism agencies from the Republic of Moldova, laying the foundation for a collaboration for the promotion of tourism in the area, the main objective of the project.

Inauguration of the Museum „St. Hierarch Gavriil” from the Căpriana Monastery, May 6, 2021

”St. Hierarch Gavriil” Museum from Căpriana Monastery was inaugurated on the 6th of May 2021, thus becoming the first museum objective with religious artifacts in the Republic of Moldova. The museum shelters an unique heritage, represented by the archeological vestiges coming from the crypt of Metropolitan Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni, which were restored by the specialists of the Center for Research and Conservation-Restoration of the Cultural Heritage within CMNM Iași.

The event was organized by ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași and Căpriana  Monastery in the Republic of Moldova, within the cross-border cooperation project ”Enhancement of Căpriana Monastery for the Promotion of the Unique Ecclesiastic Heritage by Cross-border Cooperation and Digitization”.

The programme of May 6, 2021 started with a religious ceremony, followed by the visit of the permanent exhibition of the museum and by greeting messages from His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and All Moldova; Monica Babuc, deputy, Parliament of the Republic of Moldova; Daniel Ioniță, Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Moldova; Peter Michalko, Ambassador of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova; Prof. Hab. PhD. Gheorghe Postică; Lăcrămioara Stratulat, Manager of ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași; Maria Geba, Manager of EnCaMo project, Iași; Archimandrite FILARET (Cuzmin), Abbot of Căpriana Monastery.

Arrangement of the museum of the Căpriana Monastery, April 21-23, 2021

Between 21 – 23 April 2021, the activity of organizing the museum of Căpriana Monastery took place at Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova, within the project Enhancement of Căpriana Monastery for the Promotion of the Unique Ecclesiastic Heritage by Cross-border Cooperation and Digitization”, 2SOFT/2.1.76 (EnCaMo).

Within this activity, a team of the Lead Beneficiary – ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași, together with the team of the Beneficiary – Căpriana Monastery took part to the organisation of the museum.

”St. Hierarch Gavriil” Museum of Căpriana Monastery is the first religious museum in the Republic of Moldova with artefacts resulted from archaeological researches carried out on the premises of the monastery.

Meeting with the representatives of the travel agencies, April 16, 2021

During the meeting with the representatives of the travel agencies, on April 16, 2021, inside CMNM, Mrs. Maria Geba, EnCaMo project manager presented the activities carried out within the project emphasizing the main objective – the establishment, at the Capriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova, of the first museum with archaeological religious artifacts, the Museum „St. Hierarch Gavriil”.

The travel agencies are an important collaborator in order to include the new museum in the tourist circuits contributing to the development of cultural and religious tourism in the area of application of the project.

The exhibition The Liturgical Vestments of Saint Hierarch Gavriil (Bănulescu-Bodoni) Saved by Restoration – Preservation, 14-20 april 2021

During 14 – 20 April 2021, the restored – preserved religious artefacts were displayed within the exhibition The Liturgical Vestments of Saint Hierarch Gavriil (Bănulescu-Bodoni) Saved by Restoration – Preservation. The documentation of the restoration-preservation process was customized for each exhibit and displayed on poster roll-ups.

The opening of the exhibition took place on the 15th of April 2021, 11:00 AM.

Meeting of the management team at ”Moldova” Museum Complex of Iași – 9-10 February 2021

Between 9-10 February 2021, the meeting of the management team of the project Enhancement of Căpriana Monastery for the Promotion of the Unique Ecclesiastic Heritage by Cross-border Cooperation and Digitization”, 2SOFT/2.1.76 (EnCaMo) took place at CMNM Iași, with the aim of setting the activities and the procurement foreseen in the project plan.

The discussions during the meeting revolved around:

  1. The delays caused by the restrictions imposed by the Sars-Cov 2 pandemic;
  2. Setting the procurement plan and the characteristics necessary for drawing up the technical specifications for the procurement of display furniture, display supports, UV pannels, InfoTouch, poster pannels;
  3. Establishing a new calendar of activities regarding the opening of the museum, conducting outstanding press conferences.

On the 15th and 16th of April 2021, the proceedings of the International Symposium ”Save Together Our Common Heritage!” took place at the headquarters of ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași.

The event, organized according to a well-established schedule, reunited specialists in the field of cultural heritage preservation, academic personalities and representatives of cult institutions from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The symposium was a good opportunity to share knowledge, expertise and experience in view of approaching the most valuable strategies aiming the preservation of the common movable cultural heritage.

At the opening ceremony, moderated by PhD. Lăcrămioara Stratulat, Manager of ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași, the following guests took the floor: PhD. Liviu Brătescu, State Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Romania; Monica Babuc – Deputy, Parliament of the Republic of Moldova; Archimandrite FILARET (Cuzmin), Abbot of Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova;  Bobi Apăvăloaiei – County Department for Culture of Iași; Prof. PhD. 1 – 5 March 2021 – Theoretical and practical training programme in the field of conservation and valorisation of the movable cultural heritage of the monastic staff of Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova, organized at the headquarters of ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași

The team members of the partner from Căpriana Monastery took part, for a week, to training activities in the field of conservation and valorization of the movable cultural heritage.

The programme comprised:

  • work visits in the laboratory of textile restoration, metal restoration, leather restoration with the purpose of consolidating the notions of conservation-restoration of the cultural heritage;
  • the presentation of the various types of materials used to manufacture the storage/transportation boxes (according to the conservation norms in force);
  • practical activities within Moldavia’s History Museum, part of ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași: how to elaborate the plan of an exhibition/museum; training regarding the Analytic inventory file of an archaeological heritage object;
  • recommendations regarding The conservation file of a cultural heritage object – the modality to enter the data;
  • guiding visitors under the coordination of a museographer within Moldavia’s History Museum – ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași;
  • practical activity regarding the manner of organizing an exhibition and the manner of displaying movable heritage religious objects.

15th December 2020 – Work visit at Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova

The main purpose of the visit was to train the monastic staff of the future museum within Căpriana Monastery with regards to the means of monitoring the environment parameters. In this regard, the team of the Lead Beneficiary performed practical demonstrations concerning the use of thermo-hygrometers and presented the method used to monitor the daily values of the environment parameters (temperature and relative humidity).

Another objective of the travel was to check the space destined to the future museum. The space was considered to be adequate from the perspective of conservation norms and the legislation in force, being equipped with fire sensors, window protection, etc. At the same time, information exchanges took place concerning the procurement foreseen in the project; these discussions took place between the project managers, the project assistant and the two acquisitions responsible from the team of the Lead Beneficiary and of the Beneficiary.

The travel was done with the vehicle purchased within the project by the Lead Beneficiary.
